The University of Stavanger has a vacancy as a PhD student in the research project «Improving quality in clinical assessment of student nurses – developing an innovative web-based assessment program (QualinClinStud)» at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The overall project is a 4-year research project. The position is externally funded by funds from the Norwegian Research Council (NFR).
This is an education poition that will mainly give promising researchers the opportunity for professional development. The position has graduate education up to the doctorate as a goal. The fellow student is employed for a period of three years with a pure research education or four years of research education and 25% duties. This will be clarified in the recruitment process. The post is available from 01.04.2018. Bachelor’s degree in nursing in Norway involves 50 percent practice. This means that counseling, follow-up and assessment of practical skills are central to the education to optimize nursing students’ learning and development. The QualinClinStud project focuses on this goal and aims to develop an innovative web-based guidance and evaluation program aimed at 1-year nursing students in nursing home practice. The project emphasizes participation and the fellow will work closely with the field of practice, nursing students, practitioners and researchers in the development of the program. NETTOP-UIS is a partner in the project and will assist in the development of the web-based program. The overall goal of the QualinClinStud project is to contribute to increased quality and effectiveness in the guidance and evaluation of nursing students in practice. More specifically, the project wants the web-based guidance and evaluation program to contribute to increased quality related to; (1) Supervision and assessment skills of Nursing Nursing, (2) Nursing students ‘ability to self-assessment and critical thinking, as well as (3) Practice guides’ evaluation tools. The project lasts over 4 years and has national and international partners. Detailed information about the QualinClinStud project is available upon request (see below). Applicant will prepare 2- 3 pages of reflection related to the QualinClinStud research project, including relevant issues around the thematic, as well as background for interest in the project. The project is attached to the research center SHARE, Center for Quality and Patient Safety, at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The center is a strategically prioritized research area at the faculty and has an interdisciplinary profile. Applicants must have a strong academic background with a five-year master’s degree in health or social subjects preferably by recent date, or equivalent education that provides the basis for completing a research education. Grades on the master’s thesis and weighted average grade in the master’s program must both correspond to B or better to be considered. In assessing, emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s potential for research in the field of study, as well as his / her personal prerequisites for completing research education. The employee must be able to work independently and in a community, be innovative and creative. The fellow student must have good skills in English and Norwegian both in writing and verbally. The position is considered an important recruitment position for academic positions at universities and colleges. The study is conducted mainly at the University of Stavanger, except for a agreed overseas stay in a recognized relevant research environment. The fellow wage earner is paid according to the state wage regulation l.pl 17,515, code 1017, LR 20, kr 436,900 bto per year.
